Imperious Obama Messages
Mississippi Clinton delegates to the Democratic Convention have been receiving interesting messages from the Obama campaign, and they tell you quite a bit about the candidate and his campaign. One of them said: "We welcome delegates who supported Senator Clinton, and hope to create a unified delegation on the way to Denver." Supported? Past tense? Sorry, Barack, but this is a little
Barack Obama in Berlin: How we in Germany experienced the visit

Cross posted from Jewels in the Jungle Blog:
I witnessed the July 24th Berlin speech by US presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama like millions of people here in Germany and all across Europe experienced it___ glued to our TV screens viewing our favorite news channel(s) and being mesmerized by what was yes, an outstanding young American politician at an historical point in his political career and in world history. Five days after the speech at Berlin’s Siegessäule (Victory Column) Germany is still buzzing with the news, the numerous editorials, and debates about the candidate Barack Obama.
NBC to broadcast all 4 nights of the convention

The last few conventions the broadcast networks have been covering just 3 nights of each convention. NBC has always has the best excuse, saying viewers could always watch full coverage on MSNBC. Well, NBC has stepped up (at least a little) to its public responsibility, and will broadcast an hour
all 4 nights:
"NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams leads the network's four nights of coverage from each convention, while MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews anchor coverage on cable. Tom Brokaw, who has covered every presidential election since 1968, will contribute unparalleled reporting and analysis on both the NBC network and on MSNBC throughout both conventions.

The Latest FISA Bill "Compromise"
[
UPDATE II] Both
Cazayoux and Melancon voted for shredding the 4th Amendment. Thanks for that, gentlemen. At least the corrupt Jefferson voted against it. It's now up to the Senate. Hopefully, Senator Obama will use his platform to speak out against this horrendous legislation. Ditto Senator Clinton.
[UPDATE] The bill just passed the House by a vote of 293 to 129. The Democratic Majority, the ones that whine all the time about how the Bush Administration violated the FISA law on the campaign trail, couldn't even stand together on this bill, voting in opposition by a vote of 128-105. I just hope that Congressman Cazayoux, Melancon, and Jefferson voted against it, or they will get an earful from me tomorrow night at the Jefferson Jackson Dinner.
The big boys of the Netroots have been agitated for awhile now over the FISA bill that the Bush Administration and its' allies have attempted to push through Congress. It was defeated earlier in the year, and it seemed that that was that. Apparently not.
Michigan Delegate Update
We're finally getting some answers on the pledged delegates from Michigan. After the RBC gave the Obama campaign 59 of Michigan's delegates (worth 29.5 votes), the question was, what did this do to the 36 already selected Uncommitted delegates? Somewhere between 22 and 36 of the 36 Uncommitted delegates had endorsed Obama. Would those delegates keep their positions? Would the others be replaced? We have an answer:
All of the uncommitted delegates chosen so far have agreed to support Obama now that he is the presumptive nominee, said state party spokeswoman Liz Kerr.
And then to meet the final RBC requirements:
The Democratic State Central Committee will choose 23 delegates Saturday for Obama and 22 delegates for Clinton, who has suspended her campaign and thrown her support behind Obama.
And we have the likely names of the Michigan add-ons:
