From the Inbox: Take your legislative agenda and….

From Florida Watch Action:

On Tuesday, Pink Slip Rick unveiled his legislative agenda for the year and it’s just more of the same job-killing, anti-middle class policies that have driven this state to ruin. Right now, our Florida is ranked FOURTH in unemployment in the country and we have Governor Rick Scott and his failed policies to thank for that.

It gets worse though. Now, Pink Slip Rick is reversing his campaign promise to create 700,000 jobs on top of the current economic recovery. He’s even denying that he even promised to create jobs in the first place. Shameful.

Pink Slip Rick’s radical agenda is just the same stuff that got us into this mess. That’s why we’re taking steps to expose it. Click here to watch our latest video exposing the truth about his job-killing agenda:

Let’s Hear It For The 99-Percenters

An interesting irony in the rapid growth of the “Occupy” & “We Are The 99%” movements nationwide, is that an awful lot of struggling folks are already part and parcel of these movements, whether they know it or like it or not.

To use a fancy phrase, these folks may be suffering from cognitive dissonance. In my online dictionary, here’s the definition: n. a state of psychological conflict or anxiety resulting from a contradiction between a person’s simultaneously held beliefs or attitudes

So, we have in our nation millions of mostly middle-aged and older people who’ve lost their jobs, health insurance, pensions, savings, and homes, thanks to a corporate-dominated economic agenda, electoral system and government.

Gov. Jobs? More like governor jobbing Wisconsin

To boldly go....To boldly go....Gov. Scott Walker's job-creation fervor so far has been mostly all tax cuts for corporations ... and hot air. The state's employment shortfall actually has worsened in Walker's first year but the one thing he wants us to believe is that "job creators" -- that would be businesses which, in the main, are creating virtually no jobs while shedding scads of others -- are "uncertain" about the future and thus need more hand-holding and palm-greasing from the state Capitol.

And look at this: Walker's antics have come at the cost of the state's highest budget in history, significant cuts in wages and benefits for state employees and more spending on loyalist hacks. He's replaced scads of civil servants with political appointees answerable to him, paying some of them tens of thousands of dollars more annually than the veteran professionals they have replaced, despite their lesser experience.

Emily's List endorses Tammy Baldwin

Although I am getting a late start after the holiday weekend, one good bit of news came into the office yesterday - Tammy Baldwin is now officially running for Heb Kohl's seat in the Senate.  This is good news for a number of reasons - not only is Tammy a great progressive in the Wisconsin tradition, but she is also a great person.  I'm sure that the right-wing is going to immediately jump on this with the familiar story -- Tammy is radical liberal, she's a woman, she's openly gay, ----- this all to justify the incoming Republican opponents, most of whom have an extremely tenacious grip on reality.   I'm glad to see her hat in the ring, and will be supporting her candidacy.

More important, however, is the fact that Emily's list has this morning announced that they are also supporting her.
