Background checks: Unnecessary for buying a gun, essential if you're stalking Democrats

Ho-hum. Yet another in a long series of hypocrisies from pro-Republican forces including the GOP itself as Walker protectors pursue their plan to “monitor” recall circulators thereby upholding the "integrity" of the recall process:

Anonymous right wingers in Wisconsin set up a quickly yanked Facebook page called "Recall Walker Worker Infobase," apparently yet another vehicle for stalking and casting aspersion on anti-GOP recall workers.

According to a post (see link below) by observer "noise of rain" on DailyKos, the Facebook-based organizers explained:

"This is a serious page to inform people of what is going on, what they can and cannot do and the basic dangers of allowing a complete stranger who has not had a background check, into your home."

I mean, that's so totally righteous. After all, what if this total stranger seeking your name on a Scott Walker recall petition were carrying a concealed weapon!? Or something even more heinous? Thank god for the GOP-supplied "castle doctrine"! You may fire when ready, Gridley.

From WisPolitics.com ...

-- Freshman GOP state Sen. Pam Galloway says the recall effort against her comes as little surprise and said it was fueled by out-of-state interests.

“It has only been a little over a year since I won my election,” she said. “I’m proud that the promises I made on my campaign to control taxes, promote jobs, and reduce spending are all things that I have accomplished and continue to prioritize. The legislation and initiatives I’ve been working on in Madison are producing real results.”

Galloway's main "achievement" has been passage of concealed carry legislation, to put tens of thousands of guns and other weapons on Wisconsin's streets.

Racine's Van Wanggaard, another recall target, said he planned to continue focusing on job creation...

And Galloway will continue to focus on whatever the National Rifle Assn. and its extremist agenda calls for. Talk about serving out-of-state interests.

This one could be fun.

Gov. "I Got Mine Screw You" keeps the coins for himself

Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Madison) has encountered another instance of the Scott Walker Hypocritter. Pocan who is running for congress, wrote to his followers that:

Once again, Governor Walker and the Republican Legislature are playing underhanded games with the law to keep Democrats at bay. As long as we are in a “Special Session,” elected officials aren't allowed to hold fundraisers in Dane County.

The fact is, we’ve been in “Special Session” for the last 10 months straight. What was once an emergencies-only tool to convene legislators has become a trick Governor Walker uses to keep Dems from raising any funds.

But there's even more Walker hypocrisy, because he's the governor who as of earlier this month has been busy raising unlimited funds for his own campaign, thanks to a loophole in state law that allows that when a sitting lawmaker is the subject of a recall petition drive. Indeed, while working to ensure his opponents are even more broke than the state government he is busy stripping of cash, Walker has been traveling across the US raising big bucks at toney GOP events -- except for one in Kansas, where he canceled when it became clear that local progressives were waiting for him to show up.

In any event, Pocan is undeterred. He added in his message to supporters:

JCRAR attempts to strongarm GAB

In a public hearing today the JCRAR is attempting to strongarm the GAB by making them say that their recent decisions re: voter id's are administrative rules.  So far Kennedy has attempted to not say that they are administrative rules, but are simply an interpretation of the law, which is their job.

Thus far the discussion has revolved around the GAB deciding that technical college ID's are an acceptable form of ID for voting.  This is the typical fight that has been going on here - Leah Vukmir is definitely arguing that it is the job of JCRAR to decide if GAB is following the law by making interpretations of the law.  The alternative at this point, due to previous laws passed by the legislature, is to call these administrative rules, in which case the Governor has authority to change any of the rulings of the GAB on this point.  Nobody in the GOP seems to be willing to see that giving the Governor control over his own recall election is ludicrous.

Listen in on Wisconsin Eye - it's a revolting display.  Now the committee is attempting to get the board to vote on a rule item they have not seen.
