Go Green. Get Paid.
I've been shamelessly couponing lately. I swore I'd never be like those ladies on television, and I'm still not. I can't stand them.
Why?
Well they clean out entire shelves of a product I like and want whenever it goes on special. I once had to go a good two weeks without peanut butter because my favorite brand had gone on special and the coupon ladies had cleared out the entire stock at Publix in the first hour.
So it started with me shopping on the mornings when the specials started. I've always compared the weekly ads to my coupons and gotten stuff that was a good deal. But then that led to me finding a great site that does all that for you-- SouthernSavers.com.
That in turn led to me doing the 6-week stockpile thing where I buy only the things on special unless I absolutely need it. (Same goes for stocking up and freezing meat and produce when that goes on special.)
JB Van Hollen "Call To Action" Needed Here And Now

Attorney General JB Van Hollen has put out a news release about the Penn State sex abuse scandal.
He says it's
"a call to action."
And urges Wisconsin residents to report any such crime immediately to the police.
Agreed: That's the right thing for a law enforcement official - - as it is for any good citizen - - to say and to promote - - and now that Van Hollen has urged action based on something happening a thousand miles away, how about some action on matters happening right now in Van Hollen's backyard:
Has he taken leadership in investigating
the alleged cyber attack on the main Walker recall organization's website Monday?
In his news release about Penn State, Van Hollen says what is absolutely true:

From plutocracy and oligarchy to thugocracy: On Wisconsin, not.
Not surprising that a group that would run fake candidates, threaten to falsely collect recall signatures and destroy them, file bogus recall paperwork for fund-raising advantages and tamper with election redistricting calenders, registrations and voting would also send cyber attackers to
take down the website of the main recall movement.
...United Wisconsin said its website was the victim of a cyber attack.
Freeways Are Great, But Don't Live Too Close To Them

Scientists are finding that freeway fumes are bad for the brain.
Robert Lee Hotz of the Wall Street Journal, of all places, put it best: "Congested cities are fast becoming test tubes for scientists studying the impact of traffic fumes on the brain."
And what are these researchers in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Boston, New York, North Carolina, Beijing, Poland and the Netherlands finding? That exposure to air pollution, particularly to vehicle exhaust, can be linked to brain damage, anxiety, depression, attention problems and autism, and also possibly heighten the risk of Alzheimer's disease and speed the effects of Parkinson's disease.
