Egyptians send pizzaIt's historical fact that Wisconsin was the birthplace of many progressive ideas, including worker's compensation, public employee unions, child labor laws, and more. Some even have advanced convincing arguments that the nationwide sports stadium phenomenon known as The Wave originated at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison during boring late '60s Badger games.
Now add to the Wisconsin innovation list this: Protest Pizza via Web. During last spring's massive protests in Madison relating to Gov. Walker's union-busting bill, sympathizers in Egypt and nearly 50 other countries ordered pizza by email for hungry demonstrators surrounding the state Capitol. The idea originted with sympathizers across Wisconsin and quickly spread worldwide.
Pizza by Web has now become a part of long-form, sit-in protests elsewhere. The current mass protests on Wall Street in New York City are the latest venue. From a post at FireDogLake.com:

Quick Hits from the Big Tent
Haven’t had a whole lot of time for blogging today, this place is a madhouse. There’s so much going on here that it’s difficult to know what I should be doing or could be doing. That being said, here are some thoughts and observations while I sit in the Big Tent watching Michelle Obama’s speech (Rick’s in the Pepsi Center right now)…
The altitude sucks. Not as much as Driving across Kansas, but it does cause problems.
I’ve uploaded lots of video to Zannel. Some very good stuff there.
The Pepsi Center is quite exciting and quite overloaded with people, it gets difficult to move around inside.
Susan S. works too hard.
Justin parties too hard.
Sinfonian really likes Michelle Obama and Jennifer Granholm.
Legend Killer likes to riot.
Doug Tudor will be a great guy to have in Congress.
Jay McGovern, Andrew Gillum and Bob Graham are all pretty cool.
New Belgium is pretty good beer.
The food hasn’t been anything to brag about.
Joe Biden knows 97 ways to kill you with a pimento.
The Florida crew is trying to get us kicked out of the Big Tent. Especially Ray.
