Palin trespasses into Democratic territory.

September 5, 2008 by Blue Virginia

These were collected from her speech comments:

*   Palin describes her husband as a proud member of the United Steel Workers Union.  Conservatives have hated labor unions since early in the industrial revolution.

*   Palin offers tribute to Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton, both Democrats, who are still hated and demonized by conservatives.

*   Palin credits Hillary Clinton with massive advancements on equal pay for equal work for women.  Massive advancements would not have been necessary without oppressive conservative opposition.

*   Palin mentions women winning the right to vote as a great milestone in American Democracy.  This measure was vigorously opposed by conservatives.

*   Palin offers Harry S. Truman, Democrat, as an example of a relatively unknown Vice-Presidential choice who not only became Commander-in-Chief but a distinguished chief executive who history has anointed as one of the all time best.   She leaves out that Truman was an Army Captain serving in Field Artillery combat in World War I and was chosen largely because of his experience as a U. S. Senator and a working advocate of Franklin D. Roosevelt's "New Deal".  She also leaves out that conservatives brutally attacked Truman every day that he was in office.

My Problem With Sara Palin

September 4, 2008 by Blue Virginia

I've been hearing all the media hype that Sara Palin is inexperienced (slight yawn), has a pregnant 17 year old (yeah, and?), and is just not ready to be the US President if McCain were to die in office.  You know, I would just say to all these arguments, if that's all you got, give it up already!  Let's talk issues and let me tell you my problems with Sara Palin.

Experience?  Well, honestly, the most experienced president we ever had was Richard Nixon.  Need I say more?  Okay, the fact that Palin only just got a passport slightly weirds me out because my question to her is, is Alaska that interesting that you have no desire to travel?  Yeah, I know you have kids, but, what about before your marriage and children?

I am irritated that McCain attacks Obama for lack of experience even though his resume does exceed Palin's.  If you would like to see a comparison of the two resumes, please let me know and I will send you my study, which is thoroughly backed up and referenced.  It irritates me that McCain is so hypocritical and the Republicans are now running Palin as the "agent of change" who is "new and fresh..."  Wow, sound familiar?  I guess the Republicans have nothing new and have to recycle Obama's taglines during the primary.

About her 17 year old daughter who is pregnant...  What is the big deal anyway?

An Alaskan Perspective

September 4, 2008 by Blue Virginia

Got this in my email, through a friend of a friend. Good to see there are some email chains going around supporting Obama/Biden with facts, not smearing them with innuendo and bigotry (even if this does smack rather heavily of Northeastern liberal elitism).

"Dear classmates (Bryn Mawr Class 1968)

As an Alaskan, I am writing to give all of you some information on Sarah Palin, Senator McCain's choice for VP. As an Alaska voter, I know more than most of you about her and, frankly, I am horrified that he picked her."
