Immature Paul Ryan Caught Disrespecting The President

Cong. Paul Ryan, (R-Janesville), is among those cited in a Washington Post column mocking President Barack Obama - - thus the Presidency, too - - during his jobs speech to a Joint Session of Congress.
President Obama gave one of the most impassioned speeches of his presidency when he addressed a joint session of Congress on Thursday night. Too bad so many in the audience thought it was a big, fat joke
“You should pass this jobs plan right away!” Obama exhorted. Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) chuckled.
"Warren Buffett pays a lower tax rate than his secretary — an outrage he has asked us to fix,” Obama went on.
Widespread laughter broke out on the GOP side of the aisle.

“This isn’t political grandstanding,” Obama said. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) guffawed.

Prince Reince says the Repubs just need ONE MORE House seat to really, really be obstructionist

The headbanger in chiefThe headbanger in chiefReince Pribus, former Wisconsin GOP leader and now leader of the whole national Republican wingnut shebang, says in an email to friendlies that dire times are just ahead because Democrats once again are trying to actually pass legislation. Thus, it's very, very, very, very important to send money to the impoverished Republican Party so it can add ONE more House seat and thus change the entire political landscape of the nation. Never minding that the GOP enjoys a tremendous majority in the House already, PRibus (that's not a typo) emails:

Obama's alleged doom was Reagan's gain

Little peopleLittle peopleSo the conventional wisdom is now that Barack Obama simply cannot win reelection in 2012 if the unemployment rate doesn't drop significantly by then. His handling of the economy is poohed by two thirds of polling respondents and right now fundy Christian nutcase Rick Perry is riding high in polls as the Republican challenger apparent and a nominee who would beat Obama in the general election.

Oh, really? Well, no one could say times are good, but a key fact seems to have escaped the attention of most pundits:

Ignoring the fact that he inherited an economy on life support, the unemployment rate under Obama has dropped from around 10 percent to 9 percent. At the end of Reagan's first term, when a far less damaging recession was still causing grief, the national unemployment rate was EIGHT PERCENT. Yet Reagan won handily with his "stay the course" campaign. And Obama, unlike Reagan, is likely to face a GOP that has devolved far to the right and is turning off independents in many polls.

Welcome to the conservative "recovery," where public-sector jobs are being cut in droves

At ThinkProgress.org, journalist Matt Yglesias points to a little noticed component of conservative political mantra that's holding back the national economic recovery -- one that's clearly at work right here in Wisconsin: Cuts in public-sector employment that offset private-sector job growth.

Imagine for a moment if Boston, Denver, or Seattle [or, we might add, Milwaukee] — cities of roughly 600,000 residents — simply disappeared. Well, since the recession officially ended, about 600,000 public sector jobs previously held by 600,000 real people have disappeared from the economy — consistently offsetting some of the gains made in the private sector. Indeed, today’s stunner headline that ZERO jobs were created in August was the result of 17,000 new private sector jobs being offset by 17,000 more government jobs being axed.

Yglesias expands on this fact:

Ron Johnson, Clueless in Washington: Step aside, Mr. Obama; let me show you how it's done

Do you think there is anything Sen. Ron Johnson knows more about than President Barack Obama, except plastic manufacturing? (That's assuming he actually knows something about that, having been set up in the biz by his daddy-in-law.)

Johnson, who has no reason whatsoever to think that, believes he could show the President a thing or two.

His op ed columnin the right-wing Washington Times leaves you speechless.

If only Johnson were king for a day --or even president -- we'd all be rolling in clover. Seriously. He believes that. First thing we do, we kill all the lawyers -- no, we repeal ALL of the Obama initiatives, whatever they may be.

He'd especially like to show the Pres how to create jobs -- probably by hiiring prisoners, like he did at his Oshkosh plastics factory, and letting the state pay for their health care.

Read it yourself if you must. Have a barf bag handy.
