Q: So how's that congressional plan to create renewable energy and jobs coming along? A: Errr....not so well...

June 19, 2008 by MOMocrats

This month, an important bill came up for vote in the Senate: the Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act of 2008. It had already passed the House on May 21 (click here to see how everyone voted), and was now seeking what seemed to be a clear path to pass the Senate. After all, this bill offered benefits to all Americans, benefits so clear that only...well, only a politician working with goals other than his constituents' best interests would vote against it, right?

themiddleclass.org has an excellent summary and discussion of this bill and its benefits. In short, this bill:

General Election Tracker - June 18

June 18, 2008 by admin

This is the DemConWatch General Election Tracker, a summary of the best election projections on the web.

We will be introducing House and Senate trackers later this month.

Update 6/18: Obama Index: 295 (was 288). Big moves for Obama, led by 3 projections moving Ohio from Tossup to Obama-Lean.

Map showing consensus of sources. This table will show a state Blue or Red if a majority of the sources show it Leaning or Solid for that candidate. Changes: Florida moves from McCain to Tossup, as 5 projections now have it as a Tossup.

This button is for sale at the Texas state GOP convention.

Needless to say, officials had no idea that this was going on. They "wouldn't have let [the vendor] sell it."

That's it. No "we're shocked" or "we're deeply ashamed" or "the vendor is banned for life." Just "we didn't know."

Craven bigot assholes.

NM Dem Party Demands That Pearce Return Tainted Money; GOP Going Off the Tracks?

Democracy for New Mexico's picture

CALLING STEVE PEARCE: Return the money from discredited Texan Clayton Williams, and repudiate his repulsive remarks about rape.

John McCain was forced to cancel a Texas fundraiser this past weekend hosted by oil man Clayton Williams after he was confronted with sexist quotes made by the monied GOP donor but has so far refused to return more than $300,000 his campaign Williams has raised for McCain. The most egregious prounouncement by Williams equated rape with the weather, saying "as long as it's inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it."

As I previously posted, Steve Pearce, the GOP's candidate for U.S. Senate in New Mexico, has gotten $4,000 from Williams going back to his 2006 campaign for Congress -- plus who knows how much more from donors "bundled" by Williams. The Democratic Party of New Mexico is now demanding that Pearce return the money.

DNCC: You'll hardly notice we're here.

Maybe Leah Daughtry was a bit optimistic when she assured a Denver resident at yesterday's town hall that getting around the city would be easy, but she wanted to make it clear that there were no traffic disruptions expected during this summer's Democratic National Convention.

Rev. Daughtry explained that the delegates would be rooted to meetings in their hotels until after the morning rush hour, would travel in shuttle buses and light rail during their mid-day commutes, and that the priorities of prime-time television would keep them in the Pepsi Center until late into the evenings.

Speculating that we would hardly notice that the Convention was here, convention CEO Daughtry told a gathering of about 100 residents and around 30 convention staff that it would be business as usual for the average commuter or diner.

Earlier, however, she outlined about a dozen very good reasons we will gladly notice that they are here, and the many ways that Coloradoans can participate in the huge event.
