I went out of my way Tuesday afternoon to listen to John Mercure on WTMJ-AM radio interview apparent US Senate candidate Tommy Thompson, and frankly, Tommy brought nothing to the conversation.
Short answers.
No pep.
No snappy three-point program, no fresh pitch to listeners and voters who may have little information about a who last held office in Wisconsin 11 years ago.
And even his offering up a contemporary conservative talking point to prove he could speak in modern Tea Party lingo about taking the country back and denying Barack Obama a second term had theh inspirational content of used Cliff Notes and the energy of a batting practice toss.
There wasn't anything worthy of writing down and quoting.
His campaign hasn't even started formally, the election is a year away and already Tommy sounds weary.

Stevens' Oct. 5 death brought grim urgency to a CDC investigation that
spanned four states through which he had recently traveled. And it brought the
world's media, numerous state and federal agencies and the White House into the
picture.
Thompson once again faced the media, saying the anthrax case was probably

Trying to shore up his sagging conservative credentials, Tommy Thompson rolled out an endorsement from David Keene, pictured, former president of the American Conservative Union.
Keene says he and Tommy have known each other since school days at the University of Wisconsin, and attests to TT's right-wing ideology.
Not mentioned anywhere is Keene's current role as president of the National Rifle Association.
Much more about that, and David Keene's record since he left Fort Atkinson several decades ago, here.
Where's Tommy on gun issues? Does he back the "constitutional carry" the NRA supported in Wisconsin -- carry anywhere, anytime, no permits, no training? That would be a good place to start.
