Do His Words And Deeds Validate Scott Walker, Eagle Scout?

October 10, 2011 by The Political E...

You will recall that in defending himself a week or so ago against any involvement in an unfolding John Doe probe, Scott Walker hauled out his Boy Scout experience to proclaim his virtue.
Gov. Scott Walker says he isn't worried about a John Doe investigation of his current and former aides.

That's because, Walker said, he is a man of integrity.

"I know that throughout my career - first in the Legislature, then as county executive and now for the last 10 months as governor - I live by the standards I got from my parents," said Walker, whose father was a Baptist minister. "Certainly, they got me to the rank of Eagle Scout, and I continue to have that kind of integrity."
How does that match up with his many false statements so rated after vetting by PolitiFact - - the most by any Wisconsin politician this year?

We know that phosphorus leads to algae contamination of rivers, lakes and wetlands - - and Scott Walker's administration has delayed implementation of new phosphorus controls in a misplaced sop to business that took years among stakeholders to negotiate - -  but now a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee researcher finds a new threat, particularly to users of rural well water:

Phosphorus interacts with soil allowing deadly E. coli bacteria to penetrate groundwater.

In Wisconsin, Swap Nyjer Morgan For Scott Walker, And Keep Smiling

If you are a Wisconsinite, there's no need to produce an overwrought George Willian ode to baseball to define the day.

Our one true fact is that Nyjer Morgan supplants Scott Walker as the most-often uttered name in the state, and the context is all good.

Risky, but goodRisky, but goodI'm back a third time to talk about the currently fashionable Republican notion (at least, fashionable among Republicans) that reducing business uncertainty is the only real way to fix America's economic woes. Sorry if I seem tiresome and pedantic on this issue, but I really do think it's important and instructive in many ways. This time, I present yet another reason why Scott Walker is certainly wrong about uncertainty

This idea of uncertainty holding back job creatjion is, as I've noted, one that has been adopted wholesale by Walker, as when he commented on the state Department of Revenue's decision to slam small "roll your own" cigaret shops:

"What we hear from employers all the time … is they want the certainty of knowing what the law is, what the rules are, that they're applied universally and across the board."
