Note: This is a preview to two weeks of actions, rallies and mobilizations of homeowners who are fighting to "Make Wall Street Banks Pay" in the Bay Area (Spet 26-29) and LA (Oct 3-6). Details of events can be found at www.MakeBanksPayCalifornia.com
Last Thursday’s news was startling even for those who already knew California is at the epicenter of America's foreclosure crisis. New data showed that California had a staggering 55% increase in foreclosure notices in August, the highest in the nation. Coincidentally, it also marked three years since the shocking day that Lehman Brothers declared bankruptcy and our economy began to unravel.
The “Outing” of Tavis Smiley

No difference between the Real Pimp and the “Civic” Leader. Check out the logos behind Tavis.
And what I mean by that is he has officially been “outed” as not being the Civic Leader he has marketed himself to be.
I’ve already said that, but it bears repeating: I don’t care if you’re getting your HUSTLE on, but do us all a favor and call it what it is: A HUSTLE. Additionally, don’t call your hustle CIVIC LEADERSHIP when the only Civic Leader that appears to benefit is YOU.
For those of you who have commented about how Wells Fargo Bank is a big sponsor of those Annual Negro Super Bowls, aka, the “State of the Black Union”, some mucky mucks from that organization are the ones doing the “outing“:
I stopped by Obama headquarters to pick up some signs today and to deliver some snacks. After seeing it, I couldn't help but wonder what was happening at the mccain headquarters so I stopped by there also, didn't take them anything though.
Intensity - No comparison. The Obama headquarters was abuzz with enthusiam. They had multiple phone banks going. Young, old, black, white, asian, all were there, easily 20-30 people. The mccain headquarters had a girl putting together signs and maybe 6-7 middle-aged white folks talking on the phones.
Materials - This is a problem. The Obama headquarters had no materials, not even a bumper sticker. They advised that I could call a number to get some signs put in my yard. They didn't know when anything would be arriving. The mccain headquarters had a wall filled with signs, even though all the signs said Veterans for Mccain, so they may have been for a special event. At any rate, our side needs to get the printing presses rolling to get some materials.
