Andrea Miller; Healthcare Hero

September 11, 2008 by Blue Virginia

The National Nurses Movement, and healthcare activists across the country, believe in Andrea Miller.  Her message of guaranteed healthcare, as represented by HR 676, is just what this country needs--and just what she needs to beat out-of-touch Republican J. Randy Forbes in Virginia's 4th District.

That's why she's been named this week's Healthcare Hero.  The Healthcare Heroes are nominated by the National Nurses Organizing Committee, California Nurses Association, and Leadership Conference on Guaranteed Healthcare to honor and bring attention to Congressional candidates who commit to fight for--and win--genuine healthcare reform.

More about Andrea below...but what she really needs to beat Forbes is your financial support.  Can you help out?

Feeling Frustrated by the Stupidity

I’m listening to the Morning Joe crowd (first mistake of the day), and the gist of their comments is that Obama is an elitist who called Sarah Palin a pig. Of course, that’s not true, as Andrea Mitchell is desperately trying to point out, but reality has nothing to do with the media and the way they convey a story.

We’re screwed if this is what we have to put up with until November.

Are the American people really stupid enough to do this again? (It’s beginning to look that way)

Are the women in this country really stupid enough to fall for this Palin woman? (Apparently)

Obviously our Dems in Congress are stupid. Otherwise, why would they refuse to bring up the S-CHIP bill? If ever there were a winner for the Democrats, S-CHIP is it, but our leadership is too stupid (or lame, or scared) to bring it up.

Why would they be caving on offshore drilling?

Just shoot me. The stupid is too overwhelming to contemplate.

Today's Change We Need Rally with Sen. Clinton

Boston Globe reports on Hillary's speech today in support of the Obama Biden ticket. Like others, the Boston Globe seems disappointed that Hillary is not taking on Palin. I guess they want to see a fight. Click here for the full blog entry.

Heather Ryan Comes Out Firing Again at St. John's Picnic

Just down the road from Paducah, Kentucky sits St. John's Catholic Church. Every year, they have an annual picnic with games and political speaking. While not as famous, and a lot tamer than the Fancy Farm Picnic, it is a really good idea for candidates to stop in and work for votes in Western Kentucky.

RNC08: McCain Gives Longest, Most Boring Speech Ever

September 5, 2008 by Jack and Jill P...

I was asked to sit on a panel of social networking experts and companies yesterday afternoon in Silicon Valley and talk to some folks about social media and the new digital divide. Many of these folks in the audience were the people who will be helping to decide the future of internet access and infrastructure for California. What came up inevitably during our discussion is how very far the U.S, has fallen behind other countries such as Japan and what government can & should do about it. Another topic was how important access to the internet and to new social networking technologies is for education. Our nation’s youth can’t compete here or abroad without this access and too many teachers aren’t receiving the training and resources they need to help them.
