George Bush
The Oklahoman published a disingenuous, unsigned editorial Friday about taxes that deserves a response because of a misleading statement that reflects right-wing, clich?d dogma but simply isn't true.
The editorial ("Searching for ways to make tax policy more fair," Sept. 30, 2011) makes some superficial observations about the issue of fairness in the country's taxation system, citing, among other items, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe's proposal to grant tax incentives for people who install storm shelters and President Barack Obama's recent statements about taxes and wealthy people. It eventually makes the anticlimactic point that it's just about impossible to figure out what is fair or not fair when it comes to taxes.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb is just the latest Republican official - - from George Bush-to-Dick Cheney-to-Donald Rumsfeld-to-Scott Fitzgerald-to-Scott Walker - - to adhere to the party's first principle: no apologies, no backing down, regardless of how badly you've screwed up or how flat-out wrong you are.
Gottlieb endorsed his party's love affair with "no" defending Steven Krieser, a former DMV manager recently elevated to senior management, who had told line workers
in writing to withhold from citizen customers applying for the new state voter ID that the ID is free, reports the Capital Times, the paper that found Krieser's Don't-Tell-Unless-They-Ask written directive last week.
To jam himself into the requisite Republican negative template, however, Gottleib's tied himself in nots with the rare quintuple negative. Few have jumped through that many hoops to validate something so loopy:
We'll Know Tomorrow In Wisconsin If Grover Norquist's Wrecking Ball Is Slowed

I posted an analysis of the recall elections in which I said Scott Walker was implementing, at great danger to Wisconsin and nation, the arch-conservative Grover Norquist's 'drown a shrunken government in the bathtub' action plan.
I will repost it below.
The item resonated with readers: it is the sixth most-read item among the more than 8,000 postings on this blog since January, 2007, and we will know by the end of the recall voting tomorrow if the reins Wisconsin voters began to apply last Tuesday when two Walkerites were removed from the State Senate are still being pulled back, or are they are being released.
Here's hoping that Wisconsin Democrats Jim Holperin and Bob Wirch - - both solid representatives for their districts - - survive their recalls against unworthy Republican/Tea Party drones. Evidence
here, and here.
