Crucial In-State Preference Jobs Bill Gaining Broad Support in Special Session

Senator Keller, Rep. Larranaga
Take Action: Please contact your Senator and Representative and urge them to support Senate Bill 1, In-State Preference.
Senator Ron Johnson has found a House member loony enough to join him as a co-sponsor of his bill to stop ALL new government regulations until the national unemployment rate goes down to 7.7 per cent, or the world ends, whichever comes first.
Great news, Wisconsin! RoJo's not our only certified nut case. The House member who signed on is Reid Ribble, a freshman Republican from Wisconsin,
Never mind that no one has credibly made an argument that regulations are what's costing us jobs, or that removing regulations would create them. (Note the word credibly; RoJo might make that argument, but it has no basis in fact."
Johnson said Thursday that the growth of regulation has been a “bipartisan problem” pre-dating the Obama administration but he and GOP colleagues who joined him Thursday assailed the president’s record on regulation.
“What this bill does is say stop the madness,” said Johnson.
Senator, you ARE the madness.
Ryan on jobless Wisconsinites: Let them eat candy
A Capital Times editorial, clearly written after watching video footage of the Ryan family in a Labor Day parade:
Paul Ryan has never done anything for Janesville ... until now.
At the Janesville Labor Day parade, the congressman was confronted by an unemployed worker. The man wanted to know what his representative planned to do to aid his unemployed constituents. Ryan tried to brush his questioner off. But when the man persisted,
Ryan finally offered something: Candy or a Green Bay Packers schedule.
That's all job-seeking Wisconsinites will ever be able to expect from Paul Ryan.

Can't watch Obama now, gotta answer the phone
No ringy dingyHow truly freaked out is the Republican Party tonight? This freaked out:
Right in the middle of President Obama's 30-minute speech, in which he quite forcefully touted his new job creation measure, the telephone in our suburban Milwaukee home rang. Here's the conversation that ensued:
ME: Hello?
CALLER: May I speak to [MRs. Man MKE]?
ME: Whom may I say is calling?
CALLER: (After a brief pause) I'm Doug, and I'm calling from the Republican National Committee.
ME to Mrs. Man MKE, who votes regularly, but never for Republicans: Honey, would you like to speak with someone from the Republican National Committee?
MRS. MAN MKE: No. I'm watching the president's speech right now.
ME to Caller: She does not wish to speak with you.
[Caller doesn't respond, but line goes dead at once]
