Facebook
A chance for a second childhood
I wrote this post for my blog but thought I'd put it here too because I am so excited about coming to visit Natchez again after 30 years away. Elizabeth
I grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, and loved it. We moved away when I was 12, and my mother and I were devastated. During the last visit I had with my mother before she died, she told me that the years she spent in Natchez were the happiest of her life.
Here we are at the pageant, a show that the natives put on during the spring pilgimage when tourists could go through the antebellum homes. That's me, my mother and my brother Mike near the picnic. I love the fact that everyone has '60s hair even though we are wearing Civil War clothes.
Thanks to the wonder of Facebook and blogging, I have finally found some of my old pals in Natchez. I've decided to go visit next spring during the pilgrimage and wallow in memories for a solid week.
Were you as set on fire like I was last night by Barack Obama’s speech? Man, I am exhausted but simultaneously so charged up and inspired. Tears came to my eyes more than once last night knowing that I was witnessing American history in the making.
I had a chance to chat one on one with quiet genius Chris Hughes, one of the founders of Facebook, who has been lending a hand at the Obama Campaign. Chris was down for Obama way before it was cool and is one of the masterminds behind my.BarackObama.com.

What Advice Does Silicon Valley Have For Obama and The Democrats Before The Convention?
Last Friday from the date of this writing, I attended my first
TechCrunch party. TechCrunch is a blog founded by Michael Arrington who started as a high-tech / Internet lawyer, then created this online way to track what was happening in "Web 2.0". That resulted in many parties and also a function for startups to present their offerings. Out of this came companies like Twitter and Facebook, which many of you in America use.
What do these people have to say to the Democrats at the eve of the Democratic Convention? I asked many at this video I created at the party, which also serves as an intro to the World of Bay Area Tech culture. But for those Dems watching, it's a good measure of what they will be looking for in the party platform and also in how the party presents issues.
