Gopspin

Spinners have been pushing hard for some time now on the meme that Diane Denish, the Dem candidate for New Mexico governor, and Rep. Martin Heinrich, the incumbent Dem candidate for Congress in NM-01, are running behind their GOP opponents. Today the Alligator man (you know who I mean) leaked polling, which allegedly took place in mid-August on behalf of some unnamed statewide candidate, that supports that meme. The info may or may not be true -- there's no way to tell for sure -- but I think it's a wake-up call for Democrats regardless, on many levels.

PatDavis This is a guest blog by Pat Davis, an active Albuquerque Democrat and former candidate for Bernalillo County Sheriff. Pat grew up in a family of teachers.

Earlier today, GOP gubernatorial candidate Susana Martinez held a news conference to announce her “new and bold approach” to reforming New Mexico’s public education system. Promising to outline a “fundamental rethinking of testing student achievement,” Martinez denounced the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standards saying that the fundamental flaw of these Bush administration programs was that they labeled our schools as failures. Martinez then went on to suggest how she would “boldly” label both our schools and children as failures instead!
