I didn't watch President Barack Obama's health care summit today, but I wanted to post this thread for people to discuss the spectacle and the state of play for health care reform. Blog for Iowa liveblogged the proceedings, as did FireDogLake (in four parts).

Senator Tom Harkin got good reviews for his comments at the summit today but disappointed a lot of Democrats yesterday by saying the public health insurance option can't pass this year. Harkin repeatedly promised during 2009 that Congress would approve a health care bill with a public option. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still advocating for the public option, but clearly there is no hope.

Note RPW’s Quick Defense of Tommy! – Terrence Wall Street Must Be Jealous

The Republican Party of Tommy! has registered its great displeasure with One Wisconsin Now’s press release from yesterday congratulating former Gov. Tommy Thompson on the incredible cashing in he’s done since leaving the corrupt Bush administration. Tommy!, whose greatest achievement as Health and Human Services Secretary was helping the Bush Administration lie about the cost of the $8 trillion boondoggle called Medicare Part D, appears to have had his best financial year ever in 2008, according to tax records collected by One Wisconsin Now.

Rasmussen polls Bennet, Norton, Romanoff; Cary Kennedy endorses Romanoff

Rasmussen just announced their polling on the CO-Sen race.  This should throw some cold water on any of the clear Romanoff supporters here that he would clearly be the choice because he would have all the democratic activists behind him.  However, that's not to say he has no shot.  Looks like they have about an equal shot, and a Norton, any Norton (how many people hear Norton and think disgraced interior sec for Bush, Gale Norton) has higher name ID than either Democrat.

Bennet/Norton: 36/45  (9 point swing, 7 other, 12 undecided)
Romanoff/Norton: 34/42 (8 point swing, 8 other, 15 undecided)

Another point that shows where Democratic support is for either candidate:
